Kenya is a neighbor country of Ethiopia (the birthplace of coffee), so you could think that coffee was introduced to Kenya in the early years. However, this is not the case. Coffee growing bloomed relatively late in Kenya. It was introduced at the end of the 19th century when the British colony started up the coffee industry. After the decolonization Kenya developed its coffee industry even further.

Kenya is known as the East African powerhouse of the coffee world! The main coffee growing area stretches south from the slopes of the 17,000-foot Mount Kenya almost to the capital Nairobi. There is a smaller coffee-growing region on the slopes of Mount Elgon near the border with Uganda. The Kenyan coffee culture is famous for its quality and its interesting fruit and spice flavors in the taste.
