UTZ CERTIFIED is a not-for-profit organization established as a partnership between coffee producers, distributors,
and roasters. Our mission is to enable coffee producers and coffee brands to show their commitment to responsible
coffee production in a credible, responsible, and market-driven way. Our ambition is to become the world’s leading
program for mainstream certified responsible coffee.
 
These conditions for participation are to make explicit the intentions and commitment of the registered buyer, as
specified on this registration form, to engage in the UTZ CERTIFIED program. This buyer will hereafter be referred to
as ‘The registered buyer’.  

UTZ CERTIFIED expects that the registered buyer:

• Will embrace and endorse the UTZ CERTIFIED mission and ambition to make a meaningful contribution to the production, trading and purchasing of certified responsible produced coffee.
• Will actively strive to purchase or trade a significant percentage of its coffee as UTZ certified responsible coffee to reflect ‘mainstream’ intentions.
• Will act, purchase and trade in accordance with our procedures and trade conditions as described in the UTZ CERTIFIED Guide.
• Will abide by the UTZ CERTIFIED rules for communication as described in UTZ CERTIFIED Logo Use Requirements.
• Will consult with UTZ CERTIFIED on communication about UTZ CERTIFIED with action groups.  
• Will be guided by the “better price for a better product” principle and respect the UTZ CERTIFIED Policy on pricing and market information for coffee purchased under the UTZ CERTIFIED program.
• Will pay the standard $1.2cents per pound fee to UTZ CERTIFIED for coffee purchased under this program.

• Will provide access to the database of certified producers  
• Will help the registered buyer’s existing and future suppliers to get certified by the UTZ CERTIFIED southern offices. NB: The suppliers themselves are responsible for working towards and achieving certification - the responsibility for achieving certification does not lie with UTZ CERTIFIED.  
• Will promote the registered buyer as a participant in the UTZ CERTIFIED program by listing on the UTZ CERTIFIED website, by reference in UTZ CERTIFIED presentations etc. on the basis of discussion of mutually agreed promotional interests.
